Diabetes: Do You Know If You’re Pre-Diabetic?
Have you been experiencing fatigue lately? How about frequent urination? Have you been diagnosed with gestational diabetes? Has your vision been a little blurry? If so, it may very well be time to schedule a check-up with your primary care physician. These are just a few symptoms that are apart of many signs of prediabetes. Prediabetes is your body’s way of letting one know that diabetes type 2 is on the way if preventative measures aren't taken. Prediabetes is present when the glucose levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be considered a diabetic. Other symptoms include, but are not limited to: excessive thirst, sores or cuts that won’t heal and storing more fat around the waist area than the hip area.
Keep in mind that it can take up to 10 years for prediabetes to develop, but that doesn’t mean that one has to take this lying down. The harsh reality of possibly having to give yourself an insulin shot on a daily basis can be quite scary, but that doesn’t have to be your reality.
